FURTADO, MICHAEL D., 65, of Coventry, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, October 25, 2025 at the Hope Health Hospice and Palliative Care Center in Providence. Born in Providence, he was a son of the late George C. and Thelma (Amaral) Furtado.
Michael served in the United States Army. After an honorable discharge, he was employed as a theatrical rigger and lighting designer for over thirty years, mostly for Mohegan Sun and Foxwoods Casino in Connecticut. He enjoyed music, spending time with his family and close friends. He enjoyed mentoring in all of life’s aspects.
He was the father of Mariya Furtado and her husband Jeremy Prignano of Attleboro, MA, Katerina A. Furtado and Morgan Furtado, both of Coventry. The loving partner of Traci Pelopida of West Warwick. He was the brother of Marc Furtado (Jean) of Warren, Lee-Ann Beaupre of East Providence, and Wendy Ussmann (Robert) of Arizona. Michael also leaves several nieces, nephews and grand nieces.
Visiting hours are Thursday morning, October 30, 2025 from 9:00 am to 10:15 am, with a Service at 10:15 am in the Iannotti Funeral Home at MAPLE ROOT, 2000 Nooseneck Hill Rd. (Rte.3) Coventry. Interment with military honors, at the RI Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Exeter.
