MURIEL FRANCES (GLASS) GALLANT

GALLANT, MURIEL F. (GLASS) 82, formerly of Middleborough, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully at Kent Hospital in Warwick on Sunday, June 28, 2026. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Lawrence M. Smith in 2000. Born in Brockton, MA, she was a daughter of the late Arthur P. and Idella F. (Gibbs) Glass.

Muriel was dedicated to her family by working hard as a homemaker to provide the best for them. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family. She had a strong Catholic faith, and she was a parishioner of Saints John & Paul Church for several years. Muriel enjoyed playing bingo, cards, and board games.

Muriel was the caring mother of Steven E. Westgate and his wife Dianna of Freetown, MA, Lisa A. Lawrence of Foster, RI, Michelle L. Westgate of Angola, NY, and Michael L. Westgate of Lakeville, MA. She was the adoring grandmother of nine; and the great-grandmother of nineteen. Muriel was the sister of the late Shirley Mae Glass and the mother-in-law of the late Paul J. Lawrence

To honor Muriel’s wishes, a Celebration of Muriel’s life will be held on a date and time to be announced. Memorial donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (www.stjude.org) would be appreciated. Arrangements are with the Iannotti Funeral Home at Maple Root in Coventry. iannottifh.com
