DiNITTO, NAN C. (CHAMPION), 85, of West Greenwich, passed away on Friday, January 16, 2026 at Kent Hospital. She was the wife of Amelio B. “Emo” DiNitto for 65 years. Born in East Millinocket, Maine, Nan was a daughter of the late William C. and Geneva (Twist) Champion.
Nan graduated from Mount Pleasant High School in 1959. She went on to earn a Nursing Degree from the Community College of Rhode Island. Nan later earned a Bachelor’s Degree and a Master’s Degree from Providence College. Nan was employed at Kent Hospital for over 30 years. She was the Managing Director of the Operating Room, and then advanced to become the Director of Outpatient Surgery before retiring. Nan had an artistic flair for knitting. She will be remembered for her handmade Christmas gift creations by knitting scarfs, sweaters, hats, gloves and mittens for family and friends. Nan also enjoyed meeting her friends weekly at Skeins Yarn Shop in East Greenwich.
Nan was the mother of Kelly A. DiNitto of West Greenwich, and the late Nancy L. Vadeboncoeur. She was the sister of Sonya A. Masso of East Greenwich, and the late William C. Champion. Nan was the sister-in-law of Ann D’Elia, Paulette Champion and the late Joseph L. Masso. Nan is also survived by several nephews and nieces.
Visiting hours are Thursday, January 22, 2026 from 8:30 am to 10:15 am in the Iannotti Funeral Home at MAPLE ROOT, 2000 Nooseneck Hill Rd. (Rte.3) Coventry, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am in St. Gregory the Great Church, 360 Cowesett Rd., Warwick. Interment at Swan Point Cemetery in Providence.
