NORMAN PETRARCA Obituary

PETRARCA, NORMAN A., 80, of Coventry and formerly of West Greenwich, passed away at home with his loving family by his side, on Saturday, November 12, 2022. Norman was predeceased by his wife of 54 years Susan C. (Behnke) Petrarca in January 2021. Born in Coventry, he was a son of the late  Giovanni and Rose Marie (Ruzzo) Petrarca.

 

Norman graduated from Coventry High School in 1960. He went on to serve in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. After an honorable discharge, Norman was employed as a warehouse supervisor at Posi-Seal International Inc. in Stonington, Ct. for over 30 years before retiring in 1996. He later was a salesman for Micklin Auto Sales and Universal Auto Sales, both in West Warwick. 

 

Norman coached in the Coventry Little League and Babe Ruth Leagues, and for many years in the Coventry Women's Softball League. He also enjoyed golf, especially golfing with his friends in the Monday morning league at the Coventry Pines Golf Course. He also loved the culinary arts; and dining at the Hash Coffee Shop in Harris.

 

Norman is survived by his son John T. Petrarca and his fiance Lisa Geisser of Coventry. He was the beloved grandfather of Kylie R. Petrarca and her fiance Austin Gagan of Burlington, VT., and Alyssa M. Petrarca of Coventry. He was the father of the late Lynn Marie Petrarca and the brother of the late John & Raymond Petrarca.


A private Committal Service with military honors will be held at Saint Joseph Cemetery in West Warwick, where he will be interred with his late wife, daughter and parents.
