LENIHAN, PATRICK H., 77, of Coventry passed away at the Riverview Healthcare Community surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, February 8, 2026. He was the husband of Marion S. (Dennigan) Lenihan for 24 years. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Joseph B. and Helen M. (Murphy) Lenihan.
After graduating from St. Raphael’s Academy in 1966, Patrick enlisted in the US Navy assigned to the Construction Battalion better known as the Navy Seabees and served in the Vietnam War. He was stationed in Danang, Vietnam from 1969 to 1970. While serving, Patrick received the Navy Unit Commendation Ribbon, the Vietnam Campaign Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, and a National Defense Service Medal. He was discharged honorably in May, 1970. Patrick was a Disabled American Veteran.
Patrick went on to a dedicated 48 year career as a Traffic Manager at Bradford Soap Works Inc. in West Warwick, before retiring in 2014. Patrick had a positive influence in our community. He was a member, Chaplain and four time Past Commander of the Sgt. David Langevin VFW Post 449 in West Warwick. He also was the coordinator of the VFW Post’s Classic Car Show the last five years. This car show raised funds to aid the community. Patrick was proud of his Irish heritage. He belonged to the Friendly Sons of St. Patrick, was a past president, and a one time Grand Marshal of the parade. He volunteered countless hours over the years to assist the Friendly Sons. He was instrumental in building a Memorial Park at the American Legion Post # 2 , West Warwick, RI for the Korean War and Vietnam War veterans honor. Patrick was known to be the #1 fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Boston Celtics.
He was the father of Shelly A. St. John (Scott) and Shawn P. Lenihan (Meliss), all of West Warwick. Patrick was the grandfather of Addy Pappoe (Jackson), Connor Lima, Nevaeh St. John, Breahna Lenihan, William Matteson and Ivan Matteson. He was the great-grandfather of the late Keyara Pappoe. He was the brother of Kathleen Lenihan and Joan Lenihan, both of Warwick and the proud godfather to Dawn Lenihan. Patrick is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
His funeral will be on Friday, February 13, 2026 at 9:00 am from the Iannotti Funeral Home, 415 Washington St. (Rte.117) Coventry, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in Saint Joseph Church, West Warwick. Inurnment with Military Honors at the RI Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Exeter. Visiting hours are Thursday evening from 4 - 7 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Sgt.
