PAUL DAGGETT Obituary

COVENTRY- Paul J. Daggett, 74, of Coventry, passed away surrounded by the love, comfort, and care of his treasured family, at his home, on Tuesday, September 14, 2021. 

Born on October 12, 1946, Paul was the second of three boys born to Ross E. and Priscilla (Rundin) Daggett.

Being part of a military family, as a child, Paul lived in various parts of the country and overseas. In the late 1950’s, he and his family settled in Coventry, where he attended Coventry Public School and graduated from Coventry High School. 

Following high school, Paul furthered his education by attending and graduating from Roger Williams University, receiving two bachelor degrees in Engineering.

Paul worked for many years as an Environmental Engineer for Hoechst Celanese in Coventry. Having put in many quality years with the company, he was able to enjoy a well-deserved retirement. With a desire to continue working after retirement, Paul established and operated his own consulting firm. He was the President of Daggett Environmental Consulting, where he would assist companies in abiding by EPA regulations. 

Having a profound respect for the environment and the world in which we live, Paul was involved with Save The Bay in which he dedicated his time to protecting and improving Narragansett Bay and all the waters that flow into it. He was also a participant of the former Boston Billiards in Warwick, where he would play pool with many of his friends and compete in tournaments. Paul was additionally a member of Mid State Gun Club and a proud carrying member of the NRA, and he served a term on the Town of Coventry Planning Commission in the early 2000’s.

In his spare time, Paul enjoyed playing pool with his friends and sons and spending time at the shooting range. He travelled in his younger years and he took frequent trips up to the beaches of Maine with his family. He was an avid coin collector and would attend coin trade shows whenever possible. Paul especially had a fondness of animals and he would often unwind by sitting on his deck and be in the company of nature around him. He had a special place in his heart for dogs, particularly the Bull Mastiff breed. Above all, Paul treasured the time spent and memories made with his family. 

Paul is survived by his three proud sons: Christopher Daggett and his wife Jessica, Nicholas Daggett and his wife Shannon, and Nathan Daggett and his wife Farrah; his loving 4 grandchildren who referred to him as “Ba”: Alexis Daggett, Lillian Daggett, Christopher Daggett, Jr., and Jacob Daggett; his two brothers: Kenneth and David Daggett; his former wife and longtime friend, Robin Daggett; and also many friends and extended family members. 

Visitation will be held Monday, September 20, 2021 from 10:00 - 11:00 AM at the Iannotti Funeral Home, 415 Washington St. (Rt. 117), Coventry. Paul’s Funeral Service will immediately follow the visitation at 11:00 AM in the funeral home. Burial will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery, West Warwick.
