PENELOPE L. "PENNY" (HAMMES) LAWRENCE

LAWRENCE, PENELOPE L. “PENNY” 77, of Wood Cove Drive, Coventry, passed peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, March 24, 2021. She was the wife of Ralph G. Lawrence for 52 years. Born in Troy, NY, she was a daughter of the late James J. and Esther A. (Brod) Hammes.

Penny was selflessly dedicated to her family, her Parish and Community. She has been a resident of Coventry since 1976. She volunteered in many capacities at Saints John & Paul Church; including helping at Our Daily Bread food pantry, and creating Rosary beads for the parishioners. Penny also offered her time at the Coventry Food Bank, the Coventry Animal Rescue and the Warwick Family Shelter.

She was the mother of Michael E. Lawrence (Lynann) of San Antonio, TX, Thomas E. Lawrence and Marc C. Lawrence, both of Coventry, and Steven T. Lawrence (Melissa) of Narragansett. Penny was the grandmother of Adam, Devin, Jack, Olin, Autumn, Leif, River Lawrence and the late Brianna Lawrence. She was the sister of Esther Farron, James Hammes, Sheila Meeson and the late Sharon Norton, Peter Hammes, and Pamela Barry-Boychuk.

Her Funeral will be Monday, March 29, 2021 at 10 am from the Iannotti Funeral Home at MAPLE ROOT, 2000 Nooseneck Hill Rd., (Rte.3) Coventry, with a Concelebrated Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am in Saints John & Paul Church. Interment at St. Joseph Cemetery in West Greenwich. Visiting hours are Sunday 4 pm -7 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Fr. John V.
