It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Philip James Jennings who died peacefully at home on Saturday, August 2 nd , 2025, at the age of 62. He was a devoted husband to the love of his life Alison S. Jennings for 22 years. He will be remembered for being kind, compassionate, generous, and for giving big hugs. Phil’s strong Catholic faith guided him through difficult times and brought him great peace.
Phil earned a bachelor’s degree from Regis University in Denver, Colorado and then went on to achieve a Master’s degree in Mathematics from the University of Arkansas. Phil was employed for over 31 years as a Research Actuary and Assistant Vice President for Metropolitan Property and Casualty Insurance Company in Warwick, before retiring in 2022.
He had a true love of learning which naturally led to a love of teaching. An intelligent and caring leader, Phil was happiest when sharing ideas and making complex math concepts easy for everyone to understand.
Phil had a true love of the outdoors, whether he was under a clear blue sky or the night sky. He enjoyed fishing, camping, skiing, hiking, the mountains, the beach, and the solace of nature. He had a deep connection with animals and always had at least one dog by his side. Phil believed in his heart that when words were inadequate, music can express the feelings we all have. His love for music ranged from rock and roll, to yacht rock, to blues, to singer- song writers and to strumming his own guitar. With his quick-witted sense of humor and fondness for dad jokes, he always had his family laughing.
Born in Washington DC, he was a son of the late Daniel and Mary Jennings. He was the cherished father of Courtney Jennings (Katelyn) of Andover, MA, the late Andrew Jennings, and Cole and Lilah Jennings, both of Hope Valley. He was a dedicated father to his children and would have gone to the ends of the earth for them.
He was the grandfather of Matthew, Breanne, Cooper and Teagan. Phil was the brother of Mary Cumberland (Richard), Daniel Jennings (Jennifer), Thomas Jennings (Sheri) and Robert Jennings (Jodi), all of Texas. Philip was the son-in-law of Philip and Edie Carter of Foxborough, MA. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
