HOLIHEN, PHYLLIS K. (PENDLETON) 88, of Meredith Drive, Coventry, passed away at the Riverview Healthcare Community on Saturday, September 17, 2022. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 56 years John F. Holihen, and her two sons John S. Holihen and Mark W. Holihen. Born in Providence, she was a daughter of the late William and Kathleen (Gaskell) Pendleton.
Phyllis graduated from Mount Pleasant High School, class of 1952. She went on to employment as a lab technician in the Hematology and Pathology Department at RI Hospital for 30 years before retiring in 1995. Phyllis loved reading, traveling with her friends, and she enjoyed spending time at Beavertail State Park in Jamestown.
She was the mother of James J. Holihen of Coventry and his former wife Janice Holihen Theroux of West Warwick, and Christopher A. Holihen and his wife Amy of Blackstone, MA. She was the sister of Janet Hamm of Berkshire, NY. Phyllis was the grandmother of Kelly Holihen and her significant other Jason Melo of Warwick, Allyson Holihen and her significant other Jared McLaughlin of West Warwick, and Aimee Holihen also of West Warwick. Phyllis is also survived by eight great-grandchildren: William IV, Shanna, Jonathan, Jackson, Julian, Thomas, Kensley, and Anthony.
A Funeral Service will be on Thursday morning, September 22, 2022 at 10 am in the Iannotti Funeral at MAPLE ROOT, 2000 Nooseneck Hill Rd., Coventry (I95,exit 6,Rte.3). Interment at the RI Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Exeter. Visiting hours are Wednesday evening 5 pm - 7 pm. iannottifh.com
