BARNETT JR., RAY I., 74, of Victory Highway, Coventry, passed away at the Respiratory & Rehabilitation Center in Greenville, on Thursday, June 23, 2022. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 44 years, Jeannette M. (St. Pierre) Barnett in 2016. Born in Providence, he was a son of Romelle M. (Bagshaw) Barnett of Coventry and the late Ray I. Barnett.
Ray graduated from Coventry High School in 1966. He was a Private First Class in the United States Army, serving in the Vietnam War. After an honorable discharge, Ray began working for the Allied Concrete Forms Company for many years, before starting his own business, the Atlas Concrete Forms Company for over fifteen years, before retiring in 2017.
He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Ray especially enjoyed playing Hi Lo Jack cards. He was a New England Patriots sports fan.
Ray was the father of Derek R. Barnett of Cumberland and the grandfather or “Grandpa Ray” to Mason and Morgan. He is also survived by two sisters, Marjorie A. Farrell (James) of Plainfield, CT and Gerry L. Childress (William) of Hawaii,; and several nieces and nephews. Ray was the brother of the late Thomas A. Barnett.
Visiting hours will be Tuesday evening, June 28, 2022 from 4:00 pm to 6:30 pm with a Service at 6:30 pm in the Iannotti Funeral Home at MAPLE ROOT, 2000 Nooseneck Hill Rd. (95/exit 6/Rte.3) in Coventry. Interment at Greenwood Cemetery will be private.
