REBECCA M. PONTE

PONTE, REBECCA M. “Becky”, 83, of West Warwick, passed away peacefully at home while surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, January 29, 2026. She is survived by her loving companion of 54 years, Gaetano “Guy” Candelmo.

Born in Providence, Rebecca was a daughter of the late Steve and Dorothy (Rebeiro) Lawrence. 

A loving and caring single mother, Rebecca spent her 45 year career at Leviton Manufacturing, Warwick before her retirement in 2005. Above all, Rebecca worked hardest caring for her children, grandchildren, and friends. She enjoyed playing cards and luncheons with her closest friends. In her spare time, she enjoyed watching game shows and shopping trips with her grandson. 

Rebecca is survived by her loving daughters, Stephanie Coolbaugh of Warwick, Stacie Wilkinson her husband Tony of West Warwick, and Sherri Duguay her husband Daniel of Warwick. Loving grandmother of Joshua Coolbaugh, Chad Thomas (Kristian), Zachary Coolbaugh, Abigail Cafaro (Robert), and Sabrina Spiver; Great grandmother of Sophia, Kyla, and Landon Thomas, Skylar Coolbaugh, and Rhea Cafaro.  Sister of Stephen Lawrence (Susan) of West Warwick. Rebecca was the stepmother of John Candelmo and Gaetano Candelmo Jr. She is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and longtime friends. 

Her funeral will be on Wednesday, February 4, 2026 at 8:45 AM from the Iannotti Funeral Home, 415 Washington Street (ROUTE 117), Coventry, RI. Mass of Christian burial at 10:00 AM in Saints John & Paul Church, 341 South Main Street, Coventry. Burial with Committal Prayers to follow at Notre Dame Cemetery, West Warwick. Visiting hours Tuesday, from 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM.
