RICHARD BERGERON Sr. Obituary

Richard A. Bergeron, Sr. of West Greenwich passed away peacefully on Monday June 23, 2025 at his home surrounded by his loving family.  He was 75 years old.  Mr. Bergeron was the beloved husband of Janice C. (Mattson) Bergeron.

Richard was born in Pawtucket on September 8, 1949, son of the late Esther G. (Goulet) and Francis J. Bergeron, Jr.  A proud American, upon graduating from high school, Mr. Bergeron served his country Honorably from 1968 to 1972 in the United States Coast Guard, earning the rank of ET2 (Petty Officer 2nd Class) as an Electronics Technician.  He embarked on a long and successful career as an Electrical Engineer, working for Raytheon in Portsmouth for over 20 years as well as 3Com, Zebra Tech and Hayward Technologies until his retirement in 2017. Prior to settling in West Greenwich, Richard and his family enjoyed their time living in Richmond, Coventry and East Greenwich.

A” Movie Buff”, Richard maintained a collection of over 100 movies which brought him years of entertainment and joy.  He had a passion for music and was a talented keyboard player in his own right.  Mr. and Mrs. Bergeron traveled extensively, experiencing the beauty of all 50 States, Europe and Caribbean cruises. 

Most importantly, Mr. Bergeron personified the definition of what it is to be a family man.  He was a committed husband, a wonderful Dad and father-in-law, and certainly a proud Pepe. 

Richard A. Bergeron, Sr. is survived by his devoted wife, Janice C. Bergeron of West Greenwich.  He leaves behind his beloved sons, Richard A. Bergeron, Jr. and his wife Maria Veronica of Cumberland and Michael A. Bergeron and his wife Renee of Coventry. Mr. Bergeron was the adoring Pepe of Andrew Bergeron, Nathan Bergeron and Penny Bergeron. Richard was the brother of Raymond J. Bergeron of Naples, FL and Suzanne Bergeron of California.  He is also survived by several relatives and friends.

 

Visitation to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend will be held on Thursday June 26th from 4-8pm in the Iannotti Funeral Home 415 Washington St. (ROUTE 117) Coventry, RI 02816.  A funeral service will be celebrated on Friday June 27th at 10am in the funeral home.  Procession will follow to St. Joseph’s Cemetery 959 Nooseneck Hill Rd in West Greenwich. 

 

Donations in memory of Richard A. Bergeron, Sr. made be made to the Rhode Island Community Food Bank 200 Niantic Ave. Providence, RI 02907.

Arrangements are under the care of the Charles Coelho Funeral Home of Central Falls.
