RICHARD P. CANTARA

CANTARA, RICHARD P., 69, of West Warwick, passed away at home on Thursday, November 27, 2025. 

Born in Woonsocket, Rhode Island he was the son of the late Robert H. and Marie Jean (Godin) Cantara.

After graduating from Woonsocket High School, Richard worked several jobs throughout his life before his retirement. His most recent position was as a Manager for Oldcastle Glass (Vistawall)  in Warwick, RI 

Throughout his entire life, Richard was an enthusiast of sports and racing. Whether it was rooting for the Boston Red Sox, the New York Giants, or cheering on a favorite horse during the Kentucky Derby. Richard always enjoyed the thrill of competition. He was especially passionate about the sport of golf. Richard loved being outdoors and truly found solace while on the links. He also loved a “tasty” Manhattan cocktail. Above all, Richard was happiest when he was in the presence of his loved ones. He will truly be missed.     

He is survived by his companion of many years, Deborah A. Shaw. Richard was the loving father of Renee Martin, her husband Casey, of Coventry, Holly Carbone, her husband Joseph, of Woonsocket, and Robert H. Cantara, his fiance Nicole Dubois, of Coventry, RI;  grandfather of Hailey McDonald and Tyler Carbone. 

Visiting hours will be held Sunday, December 7, 2025 from 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM in the Iannotti Funeral Home at Maple Root, 2000 Nooseneck Hill Road (ROUTE 3), Coventry. Burial is respectfully private.
