Richard Edward Cappalli, 91, of Coventry, passed away on Thursday evening, June 8, 2023 at home with his beloved wife of forty-eight years, Elizabeth Ann (Roperti) Cappalli at his side.
Born in Providence on April 28, 1932, Richard was the loving son of the late Albert and Ida (Nardi) Cappalli.
Richard was raised in Providence and was a graduate of Mt. Pleasant High School. During the Korean War, Richard honorably served in the U.S. Navy and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal; Good Conduct; and the Navy Occupation Medal. Years ago he was employed at the Quonset Point Air National Guard Base in the Wing Shop.
Richard was employed as a Box Office Supervisor at the Providence Civic Center for over twenty years, retiring in 1996. Later he was employed at the Goddard Park Golf Course as a Ticket Supervisor.
Richard was an avid hockey player and skated many years with the “Pawtucket Old Timers Hockey Group” and the “Rhody Oldies Hockey Group.” In his earlier years he also played “slow pitch” baseball.
In addition to his beloved wife, Richard is survived by three children: Irene Thibeault in FL, Richard P. Cappalli of North Kingstown and Diane Marie Cappalli in FL; and two grandsons: Richard Paul Cappalli and Timothy G. Cappalli.
He was the loving brother of the late Albert Cappalli.
