RICHARD L. SWANSON

SWANSON, RICHARD L., 76, of Coventry, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on March 21, 2025. He was the loving husband of 50 years to Suzanne (Carlson) Swanson. 

Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Eric and Signild E.V.  (Johnson) Swanson. 

Before his retirement, Richard spent his early career as an arborist, landscaper, and foreman at the former Pippin Orchard Nurseries. He then went on to own and operate Swanson & Sons LLC. As a lifelong outdoorsman, Richard loved to fish, hunt, and simply be outside in nature. He also enjoyed reading, solving crossword and sudoku puzzles, and duckpin bowling. Above all, time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren, is what Richard loved most. Richard's gentle and quiet nature will truly be missed.   

Besides his beloved wife Suzanne, Richard is survived by his three sons, Eric R. Swanson of West Warwick, Carl J. Swanson of Coventry, Noah L. Swanson, and his wife Sarah M., of Sterling, CT. Loving grandpa of Gunnar B. Swanson, Cole J. Swanson, and Aubrey L. Greene. He was the brother of the late Eric A. Swanson, Elaine Flynn, and baby Gilbert Swanson. Richard was also recently predeceased by his faithful canine companion, Cato.       
 

Family and friends are invited to Calling Hours on Friday, March 28, 2025 from 8:45 AM - 10:30 AM in the Iannotti Funeral Home AT MAPLE ROOT, 2000 Nooseneck Hill Road (ROUTE 3), Coventry. A Funeral Service will commence at 10:30 AM. Burial and Committal Prayers to follow at Bethany Lutheran Swedish Cemetery, Cranston.
