COVENTRY- Rita Y. Levesque, 82, of Coventry, former resident of West Warwick, passed away in the early morning hours of Sunday, October 3, 2021, surrounded by the love, comfort, and care of her two children. She was the devoted and loving wife of the late Robert E. Levesque, who she was wed to for 31 years at the time of his passing in 1988.
Born on October 20, 1938, in Warwick, Rita was the youngest of four and the sole daughter born to the late Jules and Laura (Corriveau) Gravier.
For many years, Rita worked as a Deputy Clerk at the Kent County Courthouse, where she retired from in 2012. She had a true passion for her job in the court system and she enjoyed the company of her co-workers. Rita will be remembered for her witty and kind demeanor, along with her infamous “Seven Course Lunches.”
Looking to make a difference in the communities she lived, Rita was active with organizations in town. Both she and her husband were supporters of the pop warner football leagues in both Coventry and West Warwick. She also served as Vice President of the West Warwick Town Council.
In her spare time, Rita enjoyed cooking and preparing delicious meals. Eventhough she was small in stature, she would often surprise people with her appetite for food. She liked to spend time with friends and above all, she treasured the time spent and memories made with her dear family.
Rita is survived by her two proud children: Robert S. Levesque and his wife Cheryl of Coventry and Linda M. Cordeiro and her late husband Anthony, who passed away in 2007; her seven grandchildren: Cory Cordeiro and his wife Ella, Camille Martel and her husband Nicholas, Cassie Lapinsky and her husband Kyle, Evan Levesque, Corinne Dennelle and her husband Brian, Michael Cordeiro, and Alexa Levesque; her five great-grandchildren: Lilly, Violette, Sabine, Margot, Cole, and Taylor; her brother: Roland H. Gravier and his wife Claudette of West Greenwich; and also many extended family members and friends.
In addition to her husband, parents, and son-in-law, Rita is predeceased by her two brothers: Gerard and Lionel Gravier.
Visitation will be on Thursday, October 7, 2021 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM in the Iannotti Funeral Home at MAPLE ROOT, 2000 Nooseneck Hill Road (RTE 3), Coventry with a funeral service to commence at 11:00 AM in the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, West Warwick, where Rita will be laid to rest with her late husband. In accordance with COVID-19 precautions, if you are not fully vaccinated, please wear an appropriate face covering.
