RITA MARIE (MAGUIRE) PELLETIER

PELLETIER, RITA M. (MAGUIRE) 102, of Cumberland and formerly of Coventry, a retired Registered Nurse, passed away on Monday, January 16, 2023 at Kent Hospital. She was the wife of the late Alpha J. Pelletier. Born in Moosup Village, Plainfield, Connecticut on March 17, 1920, she was the daughter of the late George and Auxilia (Picard) and Maguire.

Rita earned a Nursing Degree from the St. Joseph’s Hospital School of Nursing in Providence, and then went on to a long and fulfilling career. She was employed at Kent Hospital and the Jane Brown Unit at RI Hospital before becoming head nurse at the Kent Regency Nursing Home in Warwick where she was employed for 16 years. Rita retired from  the Coventry Health Center in 1998 after 14 years.

She was the mother of Claire Penatzer of Coventry, Cecile Pelletier of Mesquite,Texas, James Pelletier of Ocala, Florida, Jean Pelletier of Coventry, Gerard Pelletier of Wasilla, Alaska and Patricia Pelletier of Cumberland. Rita is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great- granddaughter. She was the sister of the late Joseph, George, Mederic, and Henry Maguire.

Her Funeral will be Friday, January 20, 2023 at 9am from the Iannotti Funeral Home at MAPLE ROOT, 2000 Nooseneck Hill Rd. (Rte.3) Coventry, Mass of Christian Burial 10am in SS John & Paul Church, interment St. Joseph Cemetery, West Warwick. Visiting hours are Thursday 4-7 pm.  iannottifh.com
