ROBERT WALTER PIGEON

PIGEON, ROBERT W., 60, a lifelong resident of Warwick, passed away unexpectedly at The Miriam Hospital in Providence on Wednesday, January 14, 2026. Robert was the loving husband of 34 years to Carol A. (Melfi) Pigeon, and a supportive father to Ashley L. Trenholme and her husband Jeffrey of Swansea, MA., Melissa A. Portella and her fiance Kevin of Warwick, and Danielle N. Pigeon of Stuarts Draft, VA. He was also the adoring Grampy to Nicole, Brendan, Aiden, Adam and one more on the way.

Robert was the son of the late Walter R. and June L. (Angell) Pigeon. He was the brother of Kerri L. Pigeon of Warwick and the late Ronald W. Pigeon and Richard W. Pigeon. 

Raised in Warwick, Robert graduated from Veterans Memorial High School in 1983. He was employed as an oil burner service technician for over 40 years. More recently, he was a boiler operator for the Providence Housing Authority.

Robert was a skilled freshwater and saltwater fisherman, spending much of his free time fishing with his close friend, Harold Felder. He also had an impressive baseball card collection and was a devoted fan of the Boston Red Sox, Boston Bruins and Providence College basketball. Above all, Robert cherished caring for his family-his girls were his world, as were his grandchildren. He was incredibly thoughtful, always arriving with carefully chosen treats just for them. Robert also had a gentle heart for nature and took joy in caring for any woodland creature or bird in need. You could often find him relaxing with a can of Mt. Dew and a Marlboro red. 

A Funeral Service will be on Friday morning, January 23, 2026 at 10:00 am in the Iannotti Funeral Home at MAPLE ROOT, 2000 Nooseneck Hill Rd.,(95/exit 18/Rte.3) Coventry. Interment at Quidnessett Memorial Cemetery in North Kingstown. Visiting hours are Thursday evening, January 22, 2026  from 4 pm - 7 pm.
