ROBERT READ, JR. Obituary

READ, JR., ROBERT H. “BOB” age 76, of Stubble Brook Rd., West Greenwich, died peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family, on Tuesday, September 8, 2020. He was the husband of Linda (Eklof) Read for 54 years. Born in Detroit, Michigan, he was a son of the late Robert H. and Arline P. (Webber) Read.

 

Bob was an investigator with the RI Medical Examiner’s Office in Providence for 30 years before retiring in 2002. He was a Medical Specialist in the US Army serving during the Vietnam Era.  In retirement, Bob enjoyed playing golf, snow skiing in the Northeast and out West, and also travelling the World. He was a Friend of Bill W.

 

He was the father of Dr. Erik K. Read and his wife Susan of Rockville, Maryland, Adam M. Read and his wife Kelly of West Warwick, and Rachel L. Read  and her husband DJ Mederios of Cumberland. He was the grandfather of Erika, Daniel, Lukas, Liam, Alek and Henri. He was the brother of Diane Wragg, Tracy Paul, Teri Paul and Rebecca Kramer.

 

A Memorial Service followed by Military Honors, will be Sunday, September 13, 2020 at 2:00 PM at the Emanuel Lutheran Church, 9 New London Ave., West Warwick. Covid restrictions and social distance will be observed. Inurnment at the RI Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Exeter will be private. Visiting hours and flowers are respectfully omitted, Memorial donations to the Emanuel Lutheran Church or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (www.stjude.org) would be appreciated.
