ROBERT SMEALS, SR.

SMEALS, SR., ROBERT, 78, of West Warwick, passed away at Kent Hospital on Thursday, March 19, 2026. He was the beloved husband of Frances M. “Fran” (Terracciano) Smeals for 56 years. Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Michael M. and Josephine (Osowski) Smeals.

Robert was a proud US Navy veteran, serving in the Vietnam War. After an honorable discharge, he worked at the former Leesona Corporation in Warwick, and then at General Dynamics Electric Boat in North Kingstown as a machinist for forty years before retiring.

Robert enjoyed motorcycle riding, hunting and fishing, but mostly spending time with his family.

Besides his wife, he is survived by his daughter Tracey Smeals and son-in-law Michael Camara, and his grandchildren Michael, Sydney, and Penelope; and his great-grandson Michael Salvatore Smeals-Camara. He was the father of the late Robert Smeals Jr. Robert was the brother of Jo-Ann Riessen (Tom) and the late Gordon Smeals (Theresa).

Per Robert’s request, Committal prayers and military honors at the RI Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Exeter, will be private. Arrangements are with the Iannotti Funeral Home at Maple Root in Coventry. iannottifh.com
