ROBERT E. "ROBB" SMITH

SMITH, ROBERT E. “ROBB” 55, of Coventry, passed at Kent Hospital after a work-related accident on Tuesday, April 20, 2021. He was the beloved father of Lauren Kelly Smith of Cranston and the fiancé of Kathy A. Broccoli; and a father to her daughters, Alexandra and Brianna Broccoli. Born in Warwick, he was a son of Robert R. and Carolyn B. (Winsor) Smith.

Robb graduated from Coventry High School in 1984. He was an All -State and New England wrestling Champion. He earned RI and National Honor Society. Robb attended Brown University, RIC, and URI.

He was employed as an inspector and supervisor at General Dynamics Electric Boat in North Kingstown for the last four years. He previously was an inspector at Thielsch Engineering Inc. in Cranston for over 25 years. However, his true passion remained in wrestling. He coached at CHS for three years. He was a RIIL referee for 30 years; at the middle school and High school levels. He also refereed youth wrestling for 35 years. Robb enjoyed running and road racing, especially in the annual Gaspee Day marathon, and he also participated in the Tough Mudder and Rugged Mudder events.  Robb will be remembered for leaving a positive impact and heartfelt touch on everyone he met.

Robb was the brother of David R. Smith (Lisa) and Daniel M. Smith (Angel) all of Arizona. He is also survived by uncles, aunts, cousins and nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be Friday, April 30, 2021 from 3 pm to 7 pm in the Iannotti Funeral Home at MAPLE ROOT, 2000 Nooseneck Hill Rd., (Rte.3) Coventry. Social distance and face masks must be observed. A Service at Line Baptist Church in Foster will be private for the family.
