ROGER LEO PARENTEAU

PARENTEAU, ROGER L., 79, of East Greenwich, and formerly of Coventry, passed away at home, surrounded by his loving family, on Thursday, June 18, 2026. He was the husband of Kathy J. (Farrar) Parenteau for 43 years. He was the former husband of Denise A. (Boudreau) Silvia. Born in West Warwick, RI, he was a son of the late Alcide and Yvette (Levesque) Parenteau.

Raised in Coventry, Roger graduated from Coventry High School in 1964. He went on to serve his Country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Roger was stationed in Germany. After an honorable discharge, Roger earned an Associate’s Degree from Salve Regina University. Roger retired in 2008 as a supervisor at the State of RI Training School -RI DCYF in Cranston, after a dedicated 30 year career.

For many years, Roger played in organized slow-pitch softball leagues in the Pawtuxet Valley. He also enjoyed his golf game as well. He was a dedicated Boston Red Sox fan. Roger was a member and a past Commander of the Coventry Memorial VFW Post 9404, the West Warwick Elks Lodge, and he was a friend of Bill W.

He was the father of Patricia Facha of Deltona, Florida, Roger J. Parenteau and his wife Dawn of Coventry, Kerri L. Provencher and her husband Ryan of Johnston, Glenn M. Parenteau and his wife Becky, of West Warwick, and Gary D. Parenteau of East Greenwich. He was the son-in-law of Eilene (Hathaway) Farrar of Providence. Roger is also survived by nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Raymond, Gerard, and Richard Parenteau.

Visiting hours will be on Thursday evening, June 25, 2026 from 4:00 pm to 6:30 pm followed by a Funeral Service at 6:30 pm in the Iannotti Funeral Home at MAPLE ROOT, 2000 Nooseneck Hill Rd. (I95/exit 18/Rte.3) in Coventry. Inurnment with military honors at the RI Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Exeter will be private.
