ROGER, RONALD J., “RON” 91, of Greenbush Rd., West Warwick, and formerly of Coventry, passed away at home, surrounded by his loving family, on Wednesday, February 5, 2025. He was the husband of Lillian J. (Vanasse) Roger. They were happily married for 66 years. Born in Woonsocket, he was a son of the late Rene and Catherine (Cominick) Roger.
After graduating from Cranston East High School in 1952, Ronald enlisted in the United States Air Force serving during the Korean War. After an honorable discharge in 1957 as a Flight Engineer achieving the rank of Staff Sergeant, Ronald went on to employment starting as a truck driver and ultimately the owner and operator of the C. W. Miller Company in Cranston for 60 years before retiring.
Ronald was a dedicated parishioner of Saints John & Paul Church for 63 years. He was a boating enthusiast enjoying Narragansett Bay and sailing on the Chesapeake Bay. Ronald loved restoring Antique Model A’s and he was an active member of the Model A Ford Club for decades. He loved spending time with his family.
Ronald was the father of Richard J. “Rick” Roger and his wife Lori of West Grove, Pennsylvania and Robin M. Parenteau and her husband Claude of North Lake, Texas. He was the grandfather of Brittany Roger, Christopher Roger, Austin Parenteau, Dean Parenteau, Austin Ansel and Logan Cooley. He was the great-grandfather of Carter Roger. Ronald is also survived by his brother William Roger of New Hampshire.
A visiting hour will be on Monday, February 10, 2025 from 9:15 am to 10:15 am in the Iannotti Funeral Home at MAPLE ROOT, 2000 Nooseneck Hill Rd.,(95/exit 18/Rte.3) Coventry, with a Mass of Christian Burial 11:00 am in Saints John & Paul Church. Interment with military honors, at the RI Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Exeter.
