DICKENS, ROSALIE T. (VALCARENGHI), 78, of Coventry, passed away on Thursday, August 8, 2024. She was predeceased by her husband Maurice E. “Popeye” Dickens in 2001. Born in Providence, she was a daughter of the late William and Jessie (Ravo) Valcarenghi.
After graduating from Mount Pleasant High School, Rosalie went on to employment as a social worker and an administrator for the Department of Health and Human Services with the State of Rhode Island, a career spanning over 30 years before retiring.
Rosalie was a dedicated parishioner of Christ the King Church in West Warwick. She was a lector, a choir member and she volunteered at “Grandma's Attic” for many years.
Rosalie enjoyed country music, sewing, quilting and spending time with her grandchildren. Along with her late husband Maurice, she co-founded the group Rhode Island Country Horizons.
Rosalie was the loving mother of Timothy Marks, Kenneth Marks, Adam Marks, John Marks and James Marks. She is also survived by eight grandchildren and one great- granddaughter. She was the sister of Rita Piccoli, Concetta “Irene” Williams, Richard Valcarenghi, and the late Salvatore Ravo, Louis Valcarenghi, William Valcarenghi, and Eugenia “Jean” Buono.
Relatives and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, August 13, 2024 at 10:00 am in Christ the King Church, 124 Legris Avenue, West Warwick. Interment to follow at the RI Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Exeter. Visiting hours and flowers are respectfully omitted, memorial contributions to the Alzheimer’s Association (https://www.alz.org) would be appreciated.
