RUTH JARRELL Obituary

JARRELL, RUTH L., 95, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, February 27, 2021. She was predeceased in 2014, by her loving husband of 67 years, Jesse L. Jarrell. Born in East Greenwich, she was the daughter of the late George and Viola Rose Johnson.

Ruth was employed by the state of RI where she worked in the kitchen of several schools. She also did screen printing in local mills. But her favorite job was working as a school bus monitor for Laidlaw Transit. She began with the regular size school bus and then transferred to the special needs bus. She loved all the kids and her Christmas tree always had all the ornaments that the kids gave her. She worked until her mid 80’s.

Ruth loved to go to yard sales, play bingo, and play cards at the Elks. She also loved going to listen to the local country bands where several of the members either played with or were friends of her late husband Jesse. She would never leave the house without her lipstick and you could also catch her with a Bud Light and on occasion, drinking Tequila Rose. Most of all she loved her kids and grandkids. Her eyes would always light up when they came to visit.

Ruth is the loving mother of Wayne Jarrell, and his wife Margaret, of Warwick, Donna Fenner, and her late husband Leon, of Warwick, Gail Pitts and her husband Michael Mournighan, of Matunuck, and the late Cheryl Hayes, and her husband Rich of Coventry. She is the sister of Wanda Arnold, and the late Dottie Hendrickson, Butch Johnson, Peter Johnson, and Gail Johnson. Grandmother of Colby Jarrell, and his wife Athena, Steven Fenner and his wife Wendy, Leon Fenner and his wife Bethany, Kimberly Cook and her husband Thomas, Jesse Michael and David and Tyler Hayes and the late Shannon Pitts.   Great-grandmother of Monica and Meadow Fenner.
