Simone L. (Schmitt) Wilson, 88, of Coventry, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 21, 2023 at home surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late George H. Wilson who passed on September 23, 2011.
Born in Metz, France, she was the loving daughter of the late Albert and Guillaumette (Barthel) Schmitt.
Simone was a homemaker and resided in Coventry since 1975 after her late husband retired from military service. She was a seamstress and enjoyed fashion, sewing, gardening and swimming. Simone was very generous and giving of her time to her family and church. She was an active member of the Riverpoint Advent Christian Church in West Warwick and cooked at church events and attended to many of the church’s needs. Simone also enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by two loving daughters: Barbara L. Achey and her husband, Dennis of Coventry and Janice S. Wilson-Ball and her husband, Clifford of Tennessee; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson.
Simone was the loving mother of the late James Wilson and sister of the late: Roger, Therese, Charlotte and Christian.
Family and friends are invited to attend Visiting Hours on Monday, April 24, 2023 from 4 PM- 7 PM in the Iannotti Funeral Home, 415 Washington Street (ROUTE 117), Coventry. Additional visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, April 25, 2023 from 9 AM - 10 AM followed by a Funeral Service at 10 AM in the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 301 South County Trail, Exeter.
