SZCZSPONIK JR. STANLEY J., 82, a retired civil engineer, of Englewood, Florida and formerly of Coventry, passed away at home unexpectedly on Monday, January 30, 2023. He was the husband of the late Jean (Tierney) Szczsponik and the late Charlene M. (Hartman) Szczsponik. Born in West Warwick, he was a son of the late Stanley J. and Helen (Garstka) Szczsponik.
Stanley graduated from Coventry High School in 1958. He went on to earn a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1962. Stanley was employed for many years with the engineering and consulting firm of Vanasse, Hagan & Brustlin of Providence. He enjoyed a long career as a Professional Engineer. Of note, Stanley was the first full time engineer for the Town of Coventry.
Stanley was a communicant at Our Lady of Czenstochowa Church and for many years, volunteered in many capacities at the annual Parish Summer Polish Festival. He loved Polka dancing. Stanley and his late wife Charlene would travel to many Polka festivals throughout the Country. He was a member of the Phenix Sportsmen's Club in West Warwick, and the Elks and Moose Clubs in Florida. He also liked to golf.
Stanley was the father of Sandra J. Lawson and her husband Patrick of Providence, Carol A. Beach of Englewood, Florida, and the late Kathleen J. Menard. He was the brother of John “Jack” Szczsponik of Texas and the late Richard Szczsponik and Robert Szczsponik.
Visiting hours will be Friday morning, February 10, 2023 from 9:00 am to 10:15 am in the Iannotti Funeral Home at MAPLE ROOT, 2000 Nooseneck Hill Rd. (Rte.3) Coventry, with a Concelebrated Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am in Our Lady of Czenstochowa Church. Interment at St. Joseph Cemetery in West Greenwich. iannottifh.com
