STEPHEN C. DECIANTIS

DECIANTIS, STEPHEN C.,74, a retired proprietor of DeCiantis Dairy and DeCiantis Ice Cream, a family business established in 1943, passed away with his loving family by his side on Thursday, May 19, 2022 at the Roger Williams Medical Center in Providence. He was the husband of Joyce J. (Sassi) DeCiantis. The couple would have celebrated 54 years of marriage in June. Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Michele and Colombe (Jussaume) DeCiantis.

Stephen graduated from West Warwick High School, class of 1965. Stephen was in the Boy Scouts of America, achieving Eagle Scout. He went on to earn a Degree from Johnson & Wales, and a Bachelor’s Degree from the New Hampshire College of Accounting and Commerce, now Southern New Hampshire University. Stephen owned and operated DeCiantis Ice Cream on Quaker Lane in Warwick and a second location on Main Street in Coventry, until selling the business in 2012. He went on to work as a transport driver for a couple different ambulance companies and then to deliver auto parts for Federated Auto and later Bald Hill Dodge. He was laid off in 2019 due to Covid but then unable to return because of illness.  He was a member and a past president of the West Warwick Lions Club and a member of the Milk Dealers Association. Stephen was a past assistant Club Master, Pack 11 Coventry. He enjoyed model trains, camping, fishing, golf, but mostly spending time with his wife, family and grandchildren.

He was the father of Stephen E. DeCiantis and his wife Lisa of Rolesville, NC, Lynne M. Ciancio and her husband David Jr. of Scituate, and Debra A. Murphy and her husband William of Coventry. He was the grandfather of Samantha & David Ciancio, Madison Murphy, Abigail DeCiantis, Cameron Murphy, and Zachary DeCiantis. Stephen was the brother of Michele DeCiantis of West Greenwich, Joyce Nelson of Coventry, and David DeCiantis of NY.

His funeral will be Tuesday, May 24, 2022 at 10 am from the Iannotti Funeral Home at MAPLE ROOT, 2000 Nooseneck Hill Rd. (Rte.3) Coventry, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am in Saints John & Paul Church. Interment at St. Mary Cemetery in West Warwick. Visiting hours are Monday evening 4-7 pm.
