MORIN, STEPHEN CARTER II, 40, passed away in his mother’s arms unexpectedly on January 16, 2020 surrounded by loving family at JFK Hospital, FL.
He was the son of Joyce Szczsponik-Petrarca and the late Stephen “Boingy” Morin; Step son of Steven Petrarca. He was a grandson of the late Walter and Philomena Szczsponik, and Dr. Alfred F. & Norma Q. Morin; step-grandson of the late Guido & Elizabeth Petrarca. Great grandson of former Rhode Island Governor and Chief Justice for the United States Court of Military Appeals, Robert E. Quinn and Mary Carter.
Stephen attended Cranston West High School and graduated from Atlantic Community High School, Delray Beach, FL, in 1997. Stephen was a natural born athlete, excelling at all school boy sports. His enthusiasm, performance, and natural grace on the field allowed him to play any position where his team needed him, earning him the nickname “Mr. Versatility”. Baseball and basketball were Stephen’s favorite games to compete in but he also had a knack for golf, even though he found the game a little “too long” and rather “boring”.
Wherever the place, if Stephen walked in as a stranger he always left with new best friends- and maybe a phone number or two, too. He was known for his tremendous story telling ability and was truly the “life of the party”. Stephen also enjoyed helping his mother tend her garden when she wasn’t able and was always there to lend a helping hand whenever he could.
He was the brother of Amanda Q. Ali, and her husband Atif, of Denver, CO., Susan S. Aguiar, and her husband David, of Bristol, RI.; step-brother of Steven P. Petrarca Jr., of West Warwick, RI. He was the loving uncle of Briella & Camden Ali. Stephen is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Stephen’s Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, February 14, 2020 at 10:00 AM in Saint Joseph’s Church, 854 Providence St., West Warwick, followed by interment at SS Peter & Paul Cemetery, Coventry. Visitation will be held Thursday from 4:00 – 8:00 PM in the Iannotti Funeral Home, 415 Washington St. (Rte. 117), Coventry. IANNOTTIFH.com.
