SUSAN THERESE (McDONOUGH) GIONTI

Susan T. (McDonough) Gionti, 72, of Coventry, RI passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Tuesday, August 6, 2024.  For fifty years, she was the beloved wife to Joseph Gionti.

Born in Warwick, RI on May 10, 1952, Susan was the loving daughter of the late Charles E. McDonough, Sr. and Marie Therese (Lebrun) McDonough.

Susan was raised in Warwick and was a graduate of Pilgrim High School, Class of 1970.  She was employed in the Medical Billing Department at the office of Dr. George D. Bertherman, O.D. in Providence for over fifteen years, retiring six years ago.  

Susan enjoyed crafts, gardening, shopping, redecorating, and most of all, being with her family. She particularly enjoyed Christmastime, filling the family home with Christmas decor, some of which she would hand craft. Before leaving her home on Christmas Eve, each family member would take a special ornament. She enjoyed her family's themed karaoke cookouts, often singing “I Got You Babe’ with her husband, “Love Shack” with the family, and her favorite “Me and Bobby McGee”. As much as Susan enjoyed spending time with her family, she especially treasured the moments spent with her beloved granddaughter, Sophie. She was Sophie’s biggest fan. 

In addition to her beloved husband, Joseph, Susan is survived by her two loving children:  Melissa M. Gionti of Coventry and Michael C. Gionti and his wife, Angelia Giglietti of Coventry; her cherished granddaughter:  Sophie Jeanne Chaignot; a brother:  Charles E. McDonough, Jr. of Warwick; a sister:  Denise A. Anctil of Coventry; and several nieces and nephews.

At the request of the family, all Funeral Services are respectfully private.
