SUSAN C. (BEHNKE) PETRARCA

PETRARCA, SUSAN C. (BEHNKE) 74, of West Greenwich and formerly of Coventry, passed peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family, on Monday, January 11, 2021. She was the wife of Norman A. Petrarca for 54 years. Susan was the mother of John T. Petrarca of Coventry and the late Lynn Marie Petrarca. Born in Mount Clemens, Michigan, she was a daughter of the late Francis W. Behnke Jr. and Grace S. (Chinton) Behnke.

Susan was employed as a treasurer for over 25 years at the former Sears & Roebuck Department Store before retiring in 1992. Susan was active with the Coventry Women’s Slow Pitch Softball League as both a former player and later a volunteer in the organization. Her favorite professional sports team was the Boston Red Sox. However, she most enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her granddaughters Kylie R. Petrarca and Alyssa M. Petrarca. Susan is also survived by five brothers and four sisters all of Michigan.

Due to the Pandemic, Susan’s services and interment in Saint Joseph Cemetery in West Warwick will be private. Memorial donations to the March of Dimes organization (www.marchofdimes.org ) would be appreciated.
