DWYER, TIMOTHY J. 71, of Clayton, NC, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on Saturday, September 21, 2024 after a courageous battle with multiple long-term health conditions. He was the devoted husband of Linda M. (Lawrence) Dwyer for nearly 47 years. Born in Providence on January 21, 1953, he was a son of the late Charles and Margaret Dwyer.
He was a talented athlete who continued to play hockey until he was an “old-timer.” Tim received his BS and MBA from University of Rhode Island before going on to work for Polaroid for over 25 years. He loved Boston sports, the Grateful Dead, lobster rolls (always cold), big waves, hoppy IPAs, and (above all) his grandchildren. He cherished his time each summer in Matunuck.
Besides his wife, he leaves his two daughters, Shana Hamill and Molly Drake, his sons-in-law Michael Hamill and John David Drake, three grandchildren, Ryan Hamill, Abby Hamill, and Julia Drake, step-grandson Sean Hamill, and his three siblings Michael Dwyer, Margaret Dwyer-Houle, and Matthew Dwyer.
"There is a road, no simple highway / Between the dawn and the dark of night / And if you go, no one may follow / That path is for your steps alone"
