WALTER J. FANNING JR.

WALTER J. FANNING JR., 76, of North Kingstown, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, January 19, 2026. 

Born in Providence, Walter was a son of the late Walter J. Sr. and Agnes Rita (Rymell) Fanning. 

Walter was a lifelong sports fan. He loved watching baseball and football games, always rooting for the New England Patriots and Boston Red Sox. Walter could make friends anywhere he may have been. He will be remembered as a loving son, brother, and uncle, and for his steadfast optimistic outlook on life.  

Walter is survived by his loving brother, Michael F. Fanning and his wife Kathleen, of Coventry. He was the beloved uncle of Christopher Fanning, Christopher Gervais, and Jessica Garcia, her husband Eric; great uncle of Olivia Garcia and Kyleigh Jacques. 

Walter will be laid to rest at St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. Funeral Services are respectfully private. Please omit flowers. Arrangements by the Iannotti Funeral Home.
