JALBERT, WALTER M., 82, of Coventry, passed away at home with his loving wife by his side, on Wednesday, August 14, 2024. He was the husband of Chang “Suzy” (Kim) Jalbert. They were happily married for 27 years. Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Joseph C. Jalbert Sr. and Mary M. (Smith) Jalbert. Walter was the brother of the late Donald E. Jalbert Sr. and Joseph C. Jalbert Jr.
At Cranston East High School, Walter achieved in both academics and on the swim team; a four year letterman. He graduated in 1960. Walter was employed as a Process Monitor with the Narragansett Bay Commission for the City of Providence from 1984 to retiring in 2005.
Walter was a dedicated parishioner of Saint Mary's Church in Crompton, where he served on various church committees, and volunteered to assist in many capacities for over 30 years. He was a charter member of the Mary Doran Council #8977 Knights of Columbus.
As a distinguished 4th Degree Knight and faithful navigator with the Father Wallace Assembly #1055, Walter was proud to participate in many charitable activities. Walter was a past Grand Knight and District Deputy, and as a Knight, Walter was a team leader for the Kent Hospital Capital Fund for 10 years. For over 20 years, Walter operated the Knights of Columbus food tent for the RI Special Olympics at URI. Walter was a great fundraiser to assist many local and charitable organizations.
His Funeral will be Wednesday, August 21, 2024, at 9 am from the IANNOTTI Funeral Home, 415 Washington St. (Rte.117) Coventry, with a Requiem Mass of Christian Burial 10 am in Saints John & James Church. Visiting hours are Tuesday evening, August 20, 2024 from 4 pm to 7 pm.
