WAYNE C. HANNAGAN, SR.

Wayne C. Hannagan, Sr., 76, of Coventry, a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 19, 2023 at Kent Hospital in Warwick.  He was the beloved husband of fifty-six years to Rosemary (Silvia) Hannagan.

Born in Providence on August 6, 1947, he was the beloved son of the late Walter and Lillian (Sweeney) Hannagan.  

Wayne was raised in South Providence and was a graduate of Central High School, Class of 1965.  Following graduation, Wayne enlisted and honorably served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam Era and studied aviation sheet metal while in the service.  

Wayne was a member of Sheet Metal Workers, Local 17 in Rhode Island and was employed for over forty years at Unique Metal Works, LLC. in Pawtucket retiring as a Supervisor over fourteen years ago.   Unlike his father and brother, Wayne chose sheet metal over iron working because of his fear of heights.   

Wayne enjoyed visiting friends at Club Jogues in Coventry, the Cornerstone Pub in Exeter and the local Applebee’s.  He was also a member of the American Legion in West Warwick.  

In addition to his beloved wife, Wayne is survived by two loving sons:  Wayne Hannagan, Jr. and his wife, Cheryl and Christopher S. Hannagan, all of Coventry; three siblings:  Walter Hannagan and his wife, Carol of Chepachet, Maureen Wilson and her husband, Michael of Warwick and John Hannagan in Indiana; four cherished grandchildren:  Tayla Hannagan, Wayne Hannagan, III, Shane Hannagan and his wife, Ella and Christopher Richard; and many nieces and nephews.  

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend visiting hours on Wednesday, December 27, 2023 from 4 PM - 7 PM in the Iannotti Funeral Home, 415 Washington Street, Route 117, Coventry, RI.  A Funeral will be held on Thursday, December 28, 2023 at 9 AM from the IANNOTTI Funeral Home, 415 Washington Street, Coventry followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in St. John & James Parish, 20 Washington Street, West Warwick.  Burial with full military honors will take place in the Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 301 South County Trail, Exeter.
