William D. Cowan, age 71, known to many as “Billy Bumm”, passed away the Morning of Saturday, November 30, 2024, at Landmark Hospital in Woonsocket, RI, after a courageous battle with cancer.
A proud U.S. Army veteran who served during the Vietnam War, Bill spent over 15 years as a dedicated truck driver. He was a lover of music, Westerns, and the simple joys of life on the road.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Geraldine (McAllister) Cowan and William A. Cowan. He is survived by his son Jai Cowan and wife Erica of Jewett City, CT; his grandchildren, Lola Cowan of Coventry, RI, and Odin Cowan of Jewett City, CT; his sister Darlene Cowan of Woonsocket, RI; his brother Gerald Cowan of Paducah, KY; and several nieces and nephews.
Bill’s family and friends will forever remember him for his humor, strength, and love of storytelling. Services will be announced at a later date.
Donations in Bill’s memory may be made to further the research of cancer or any organization to benefit US Veterans.
