Manuel L. Deus

Deus, Manuel L., 71, of Woodside Avenue and Spring Hill, FL, passed away at home on Friday, February 27, 2009 while surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Mary Lou (Braga) Deus for 44 yrs. Born in San Miguel, Azores, Portugal he was the son of the late Antonio and Maria (Pimentel) Deus.

Manuel came to the U.S. on August 13, 1953. He owned and operated Manuel Deus and Sons Masonry Co., Inc. from 1970 -2000. He previously was a supervisor for Campanella and Cardi Corp. Manuel was a member of St. Anthony's Church, the Bricklayers and Allied Craftsmen, Local No.3, Portuguese American Sport Club, Portuguese American Citizens Club, and the Holy Ghost Society.

Manuel had a special smile which always brought joy to those who knew him. His faith and courage will continue to inspire us. He loved gardening, fishing, traveling
to Florida, enjoying his fruit trees and sharing time with his family and friends.

He was the father of Evo L. Deus , Donna M. (Deus) Poole, both of Coventry, Richard L. Deus of West Warwick, and the late Manuel L. Deus Jr. Grandfather of 8; also survived by 1 great-granddaughter. Brother of Antonio Deus, Jr.,Evo L. Deus, Horace Deus, Madeline Miudo, Mary Amaral, Nobina Deus all of West Warwick, Carlos Deus of Coventry, Joseph Deus of West Greenwich, and Angelo Deus of Smithfield.

His Funeral will be Wednesday at 8:45 am from the R.A. IANNOTTI Funeral Home, 415 Washington St.,(Rte.117),Coventry, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in St. Anthony's Church, 10 Sunset Ave., West Warwick, RI 02893. Burial in Notre Dame Cemetery, W.W. Visiting hours Tuesday 4-8 pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions to St. Anthony's Church Building Fund will be appreciated.
